Camborne Tae Kwon-Do Academy
Camborne Tae Kwon-Do was established in 1991 by Danny Broderick and is the oldest traditional ITF-style Tae Kwon-Do school in Cornwall, producing around 40 black belts in its first 15 years.
One of these black belts, Liam Broderick (pictured below) has been a student of the school since October 1991, assistant instructor since 1994 and instructor from August 2009 when Danny Broderick became a Tae Kwon-Do instructor for the armed forces.
The Academy teaches traditional Tae Kwon-Do merged with modern self-defence and advanced yoga techniques. We train in a disciplined but fun environment that welcomes students of all abilities from age 5 upwards. As a not-for-profit Academy, our monthly fees are the lowest in the local area. We are here to build confidence, to improve health and fitness and to develop the skills that will protect out students from violence, bullying and intimidation.
We are part of a network of schools known as Cornwall Tae Kwon-Do, which was established in 1974 at RAF St Mawgan. This is the oldest Tae Kwon-Do group in Cornwall (one of the oldest in the UK) and continues to provide the original Tae Kwon-Do training that has become so famous across the world. We teach the traditional ITF style of Tae Kwon-Do, similar to the TAGB, as the Instructors have a TAGB background. There is no sine wave in our patterns as we teach the traditional Tae Kwon-Do that General Choi created and released to the world in 1955, which uses the powerful and realistic hip twist.
Camborne Tae Kwon-Do Academy is part of Kernow TAE (Kernow Tae Kwon-Do Academy of Excellence), which brings Camborne and Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academies into one. Kernow TAE is managed by a team of instructors - see the instructor profiles here
